Bachelor Studies in ECON

Economics is the science that studies how society organizes the use of limited resources, namely time, money, and factors of production such as labor, natural resources, and capital. In the modern world, resources are not organized by a central planner but through the combined resources and cooperation of a large number of households and firms.

Economists study how people make decisions regarding purchases, savings, and investment. Our program, through its multidisciplinary approach, tends to equip students to think like economists, use the relevant techniques for analyzing economics problems, and present theoretical and practical arguments.

The Bachelor of Arts in ECON at IUS is a four-year, eight-semester program of 240 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), broken down into about 30 ECTS per semester.

Earning a Bachelor’s degree is one of the most important steps you can take towards increasing your earning potential and job opportunities.

At the Bachelor level, we provide students with knowledge of the fundamental concepts in microeconomic and macroeconomic theory. Besides, students are introduced to quantitative methods used for data analysis and several financial courses. Upon completion of the first study cycle, a student acquires the title of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics

At the Master level, we offer a technical and rigorous approach required for professional economists. We intend to extend the knowledge of economic theory and its application by offering an intensive one-year program concentrated on microeconomic and macroeconomic theories and econometrics. This program tends to provide a solid background for pursuing a Ph.D. degree. After completing the second study cycle, a student acquires the title of Master of Arts (M.A.) in Economics

At the Ph.D. level, we prepare students for professional practice and continued research in the field of economics. Our courses are designed to train students to perform intensive research in economics. That is why students are offered focused supervision while developing and implementing their research design. The main specialization areas include microeconomics, macroeconomics, and finance. Having completed the third study cycle, a student acquires the title of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics

Economics program provides students with in-depth knowledge about economics, finance, and business that prepares graduates for careers in business, government, and consulting. This program serves a solid foundation for continuing education in economics but also related fields. After graduation, students are trained to work in banks, financial institutions, government institutions, NGOs, and local and foreign companies.
